Canada has many popular cities – Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, but not Ottawa. The capital of the country is locally considered not too interesting place – one of the former ministers even said that “the best thing in this city is the train to Montreal”. The city authorities decided that it was time to change the situation and appointed a special official to develop the city’s nightlife.
The first “night mayor” Mathieu Grondin took office a month ago and intends to make the city more cheerful. The authorities decided to take such an atypical step, having found out that night revenues in the city amount to only 30% of the daytime ones.
